The central city area is based on Lake Burley-Griffen and provides very pleasant backdrop to significant monuments and buildings. We noted that since our last visit that night life in the central city area has improved greatly due to more community art displays and dining places.

Lots of things to see - Museum, art gallery etc, all close to each other. Some things are further afield and worth seeing, so a car is very useful/necessary. I discovered the buses don't take cash and I would have to apply for a travel card 7-10 days in advance to get it in the mail! They don't take credit cards either (apparently that is coming in November 2024, but not much use to me when my friends weren't able to give me a lift as planned!) I can't believe a city that wants visitors makes it IMPOSSIBLE to go anywhere by bus or light train!Jean - 8.0Scored 8.0

Very relax place to just explore and take a break away with some interesting places to see and visit for different reasons. Canberra is a wonderful city to visit. Heaps to see and do with some fabulous restaurants. Gorgeous in the Autumn, especially on the lake. Take into account there is a lot of construction happening in the city so some attractions like the War Memorial are a bit less than they can be. The extension to the light rail is still under construction but will be fabulous when it's done.PamelaAustralia

Another bonus for us was the flat access allowing baby pram access right to the door. Not all apartments would offer towels, soap/shampoos so this was yet an other nice touch. Quiet. Would stay again when next in Canberra.
